حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ كَامِلٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ تَقَاضَى ابْنَ أَبِي حَدْرَدَ دَيْنًا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَارْتَفَعَتْ أَصْوَاتُهُمَا حَتَّى سَمِعَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَيْهِمَا حَتَّى كَشَفَ سُحُفَ حُجْرَتِهِ فَنَادَى كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ فَقَالَ «يَا كَعْبُ» قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ بِيَدِهِ أَنْ ضَعِ الشَّطْرَ مِنْ دَيْنِكَ فَقَالَ كَعْبٌ قَدْ فَعَلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قُمْ فَاقْضِهِ»

✧ He reported to him that he requested Ibn Abi Hadrad to repay a debt he owed him in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the mosque. Their voices rose until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard them while he was in his house, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to them until he raised the curtain of his chamber and called out: 'O Ka'b b. Malik.' He said: At your service, O Messenger of Allah. He gestured with his hand to drop half of his debt, and Ka'b said: I have done it, O Messenger of Allah. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Get up and pay it.'
