حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ مِنْ تَوْبَتِي أَنْ أَنْخَلِعَ مِنْ مَالِي وَأَنْ أَهْجُرَ دَارَ قَوْمِي الَّتِي أَصَبْتُ فِيهَا الذَّنْبَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُجْزِئُ عَنْكَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الثُّلُثُ»

Translation

✧ I said: O Messenger of God, part of my repentance is that I divest myself of my wealth and that I abandon the abode of my people in which I committed the sin. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: "A third of that will suffice you."
