✧ Qais b. Fahd al-Ansari, the grandfather of Yahya b. Sa'id, and his father's name is disputed, and it is said that it is Qais b. Amr, and it is said that it is Qais b. Sahl.

حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثَنَا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَوْفٍ حَدَّثَنِي حَيَّانُ عَنْ قَطَنِ بْنِ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْعِيَافَةُ وَالطَّرْقُ وَالطِّيَرَةُ مِنَ الْجِبْتِ» قَالَ عَوْفٌ الْعِيَافَةُ زَجْرُ الطَّيْرِ وَالطَّرْقُ الْخَطُّ فِي الْأَرْضِ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “ʿIyāfah, ṭarq, and ṭīrah are from al-jibt.” ʿAwf said: “ʿIyāfah is the chasing away of birds, and ṭarq is drawing lines in the ground.”
