حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاهَوَيْهِ ثَنَا أَبِي ثَنَا جَرِيرُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَا ثَنَا الْكَلْبِيُّ عَنْ حُمَيْضَةَ بْنِ الشَّمَرْدَلِ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ قَالَ

أَسْلَمْتُ وَعِنْدِي ثَمَانِ نِسْوَةٍ وَأَسْلَمْنَ مَعِي وَهَاجَرْنَ مَعِي فَقَالَ «اخْتَرْ أَرْبَعًا مِنْهُنَّ» فَجَعَلْتُ أَقُولُ لِلَّتِي أُرِيدُ إِمْسَاكَهَا أَقْبِلِي ولِلَّتِي لَا أُرِيدُ إِمْسَاكَهَا أَدْبِرِي

✧ I embraced Islam while I had eight wives, and they embraced Islam with me and emigrated with me. He said, “Choose four of them.” I began to say to the one I wanted to keep, “Come forward,” and to the one I did not want to keep, “Turn away.”
