حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الرَّقِّيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي غَرَزَةَ قَالَ

جَاءَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالسُّوقِ وَنَحْنُ نَبِيعُ الرَّقِيقَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَنَحْنُ نُسَمِّي أَنْفُسَنَا بِالسَّمَاسِرَةِ فَسَمَّانَا بِأَحْسَنَ مِمَّا سَمَّيْنَا بِهِ أَنْفُسَنَا فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ إِنَّ هَذَا الْبَيْعَ يَحْضُرُهُ الْبَيْعُ وَالْأَيْمَانُ فَشُوبُوهُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us in the market while we were selling slaves in the city and we called ourselves brokers. He called us by a better name than what we called ourselves and said: "O merchants, this trade is accompanied by buying and swearing, so purify it with charity."
