حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ
أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِصَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ وَأَمَرَنَا بِزَكَاةِ الْفِطْرِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتِ الزَّكَاةُ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ commanded us to fast on ʿĀshūrāʾ before the month of Ramaḍān was revealed. When the month of Ramaḍān was revealed, he neither commanded us nor forbade us, and we still fast it. He also commanded us to give the zakāt al-fiṭr, and when the zakāt was revealed, he neither commanded us nor forbade us, and we still give it.
