حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إلَّا عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَكَّةَ كَانَ قَيْسُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ فِي مُقَدِّمَتِهِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ بِمَنْزِلِةِ صَاحِبِ الشُّرْطَةِ فَكُلِّمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي قَيْسٍ لِيَصْرِفَهُ عَنِ الْمَوْضِعِ الَّذِي وَضَعَهُ بِهِ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ عَلَى شَيْءٍ فَصَرَفَهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ came to Makkah, Qays b. Sa‘d was in his vanguard before him, in the position of the chief of police. The Prophet ﷺ was spoken to about Qays, to remove him from the place where he had stationed him, for fear that he might go too far in something. So he removed him from that.
