حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلَالٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَكِّيُّ أَنَّ أَبَا مَعْبَدٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ عَبَّاسًا لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ عَبَّاسٌ فَلَمَّا كَبَّرَ النَّاسُ قُلْتُ سَيُحَدِّثُنِي الْفَضْلُ عَمَّا صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَمَّا دَفَعَ عَشِيَّةَ عَرَفَةَ دَفَعَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَشُدُّ بِرَأْسِ بَعِيرِهِ يَكُفُّ مِنْهُ وَجَعَلَ يُنَادِي «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةَ» حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ مُحَسِّرًا أَوْضَعَ شَيْئًا وَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِحَصَى الْخَذْفِ»

✧ That when it was the day of ʿArafah, al-Faḍl b. ʿAbbās was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. ʿAbbās said: When the people said the takbīr, I said: Al-Faḍl will tell me what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did. He said: When he departed on the evening of ʿArafah, the people departed with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began pulling the head of his camel, restraining it, and he kept calling out: "O people, upon you is tranquility," until when he reached Muḥassir he hastened a little and began saying: "Upon you are the pebbles of khadhf."
