حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَزَوَّرِ عَنْ نُفَيْعٍ
عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ وَأَبِي بَرْزَةَ أَنَّهُمَا قَالَا خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي جَنَازَةٍ فَرَأَى قَوْمًا قَدْ طَرَحُوا أَرْدِيَتَهُمْ يَمْشُونَ فِي خَمْصٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَبِفِعْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَوْ بِصُنْعٍ تَأْخُذُونَ لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَدْعُوَ عَلَيْكُمْ دَعْوَةً تَرْجِعُونَ فِي غَيْرِ صُوَرِكُمْ» فَأَخَذُوا أَرْدِيَتَهُمْ وَلَمْ يَعُودُوا إِلَى ذَلِكَ

✧ From ʿImran b. Husayn and Abu Barzah, that they said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a funeral procession, and he saw a people who had thrown off their cloaks and were walking in sandals. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Is it by the practice of Jahiliyyah or by a custom that you take this? I had resolved to invoke against you an invocation that would make you return in forms other than your own.” So they took their cloaks and did not return to that.
