حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ثنا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ أَوِ الْعَصْرَ ثَلَاثَ رَكَعَاتٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْخِرْبَاقُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا صَلَّيْتَ ثَلَاثَ رَكَعَاتٍ فَقَالَ «أَكَذَاكَ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ تَشَهَّدَ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Zuhr or ʿAsr as three rakʿahs. A man called al-Khirbaq said to him: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you prayed only three rakʿahs.’ He said: ‘Is it so?’ They said: ‘Yes.’ So he prayed one rakʿah, then recited the tashahhud and said salam, then prostrated the two prostrations of forgetfulness.
