al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 156

✧ The genealogy of Ali b. Abi Talib "who participated in the Battle of Badr, son of Abd al-Muttalib b. Hashim, son of Abd Manaf b. Qusayy, son of Kilab b. Murrah, son of Ka'b b. Lu'ayy, son of Ghalib b. Fihr, son of Malik, with the kunya of Abu al-Hasan".

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ وَكِيعِ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي شَرِيكٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ

أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ؓ لَمَّا تَزَوَّجَ فَاطِمَةَ ؓ قَالَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ زَوَّجْتَنِيهِ أُعَيْمِشَ عَظِيمَ الْبَطْنِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَقَدْ زَوَّجْتُكِهِ وَإِنَّهُ لَأَوَّلُ أَصْحَابِي سِلْمًا وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ عِلْمًا وَأَعْظَمُهُمْ حِلْمًا»

✧ When Ali ؓ married Fatimah ؓ, she said to the Prophet ﷺ: "You have married me to a bleary-eyed man with a big belly." The Prophet ﷺ said: "I have married you to him, and he is the first of my companions in submission, the most knowledgeable of them, and the greatest of them in forbearance."
