حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا حَجَّاجٌ الْأَزْرَقِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ قَالُوا ثنا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

أَضْلَلْتُ بَعِيرًا لِي يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فَخَرَجْتُ لِطَلَبِهِ بِعَرَفَةَ «فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَاقِفًا مَعَ النَّاسِ بِعَرَفَةَ» فَقُلْتُ هَذَا مِنَ الْحُمْسِ فَمَا شَأْنُهُ هَهُنَا؟ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ وَالْأَحْمَسُ الشَّدِيدُ عَلَى دِينِهِ فَكَانَتْ قُرَيْشٌ تُسَمِّي الْحُمْسَ وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ قَدِ اسْتَهْوَاهمْ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ إِنَّكُمْ إِنْ عَظَّمْتُمْ غَيْرَ حَرَمِكُمُ اسْتَخَفَّ النَّاسُ بِحَرَمِكُمْ وَكَانُوا لَا يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ

✧ I lost a camel of mine on the day of 'Arafah, so I went out to look for it at 'Arafah, and I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing with the people at 'Arafah. I said: 'This one is from the Hums, so what is his business here?' Sufyan said: 'Al-Ahmas is the one who is strict in his religion.' Quraysh used to be called al-Hums, and Satan had led them astray, saying to them: 'If you venerate other than your sanctuary, people will belittle your sanctuary.' So they would not leave the sanctuary.
