حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ النَّرْسِيُّ ح وثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ح وثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ قَالُوا ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْحَاقَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ جَهِدَتِ الْأَنْفُسُ وَضَاعَ الْعِيَالُ وَهَلَكَتِ الْأَمْوَالُ وَنَهَكَتِ الْأَنْعَامُ فَاسْتَسْقِ اللهَ ﷻ لَنَا فَإِنَّا نَسْتَشْفِعُ بِكَ عَلَى اللهِ وَنَسْتَشْفِعُ بِاللهِ عَلَيْكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَيْحَكَ تَدْرِي مَا تَقُولُ؟» فَسَبَّحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَا زَالَ يُسَبِّحُ حَتَّى عَرَفَ ذَلِكَ فِي وُجُوهِ أَصْحَابِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «وَيْحَكَ لَا يُسْتَشْفَعُ بِاللهِ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ شَأْنُ اللهِ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَيْحَكَ تَدْرِي مَا اللهُ ﷻ؟ إِنَّ عَرْشَهُ عَلَى سَمَاوَاتِهِ وَأَرْضِهِ هَكَذَا» وَقَالَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ «مِثْلَ الْقُبَّةِ وَإِنَّهُ لَيَئِطُّ بِهِ أَطِيطَ الرَّحْلِ بِالرَّاكِبِ»

✧ A bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the souls are exhausted, the dependents are lost, the wealth has perished, and the livestock are emaciated. Ask Allah, may He be exalted, for rain for us, for we seek intercession through you with Allah, and we seek intercession through Allah with you.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Woe to you! Do you know what you are saying?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ glorified Allah and kept glorifying Him until that was evident on the faces of his companions. Then he said: 'Woe to you! Intercession is not sought through Allah with anyone of His creation. The matter of Allah is greater than that. Woe to you! Do you know what Allah, may He be exalted, is? His Throne is above His heavens and His earth like this' — and he indicated with his two fingers — 'like a dome, and it creaks under Him as a saddle creaks under its rider.'
