حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ثنا أَبِي ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَعْتَقَ مَمْلُوكِينَ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ لَيْسَ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُمْ فَرُفِعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ «فَأَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَعْتَقَ مِنْهُمُ اثْنَيْنِ وَرَدَّ بَقِيَّتَهُمْ فِي الرِّقِّ»

✧ That a man emancipated slaves on his deathbed while he had no property other than them, so the matter was referred to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he cast lots among them, freed two of them, and returned the rest to slavery.
