حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شُعَيْبٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَابُلُتِّيُّ ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ثنا أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ دُرَيْكٍ أَنَّ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ أَتَى عِمْرَانَ بْنَ حُصَيْنٍ فَقَالَ
إِنِّي مُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا فَإِنْ بَرِئْتُ مِنْ وَجَعِي هَذَا فَلَا تُحَدِّثْ بِهِ وَإِنْ مَضَيْتُ لِسَبِيلِي فَحَدِّثْ بِهِ إِنْ بَدَا لَكَ أَوْ دَعْ «إِنَّا اسْتَمْتَعْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا عَنْهَا حَتَّى مَاتَ فَيَرَى رَجُلٌ بِرَأْيِهِ»

✧ “I am narrating to you a hadith. If I recover from this pain of mine, do not relate it; and if I pass on my way, then relate it if you see fit, or leave it. We performed Tamattuʿ with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he did not forbid it to us until he died.” He said: “A man sees it according to his own opinion.”
