حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ النَّسَائِيُّ وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالَا ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ أَبُو أُمَيَّةَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ قَالَ وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ عَتَّابِ بْنِ بِشِيرٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جُبَيْرٍ

سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ لِعُثْمَانَ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ حِينَ دَفَعَ إِلَيْهِ مِفْتَاحَ الْكَعْبَةِ «هَاؤُمْ غَيِّبْهُ» قَالَ فَلِذَلِكَ يُغَيَّبُ الْمِفْتَاحُ

Translation

✧ He heard the Prophet ﷺ say to ʿUthmān b. Ṭalḥah when he handed him the key of the Kaʿbah: “Here, take it and conceal it.” He said: “That is why the key is kept hidden.”
