حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ وَأَبُو يَزِيدَ الْحَوْطِيُّ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَا ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا جَاءَهُ فَيْءٌ قَسَّمَهُ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ فَأَعْطَى الْأَهْلَ حَظَّيْنِ وَأَعْطَى الْأَعْزَبَ حَظًّا وَاحِدًا فَدُعِينَا وَكُنْتُ أُدْعَى قَبْلَ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ فَأُعْطَى حَظًّا وَاحِدًا فَتَسَخَّطَ حَتَّى عَرَفَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَنْ حَضَرَهُ فَبَقِيَتْ فَضْلَةٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَرْفَعُهَا بِطَرَفِ عَصَاهُ فَتَسْقُطُ ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُهَا فَتَسْقُطُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَ يُكْنَزُ لَكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا؟» فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ وَدِدْنَا وَاللهِ لَوْ أُكْنِزَ لَنَا فَصَبَرَ مَنْ صَبَرَ وَفُتِنَ مَنْ فُتِنَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَعَلَّكَ تَكُونُ فِيهِ شَرٌّ مَفْتُونٌ»

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ received booty, he would distribute it the same day, giving the married man two shares and the unmarried man one share. We were called, and I was called before 'Ammar b. Yasir, and I was given one share. He became displeased until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and those present noticed. A piece of gold remained, and the Prophet ﷺ began lifting it with the tip of his staff, and it would fall; then he would lift it and it would fall, saying, "How will you be on the day when this is hoarded for you?" No one answered him. Then 'Ammar b. Yasir said, "By Allah, we would love it to be hoarded for us, so that those who are patient remain patient and those who are tempted are tempted." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Perhaps you will be in it an evil, one who is tempted."
