حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ
ثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِِ بْنِ سَلْمَانَ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ خُبَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَقُودُ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَاحِلَتََهُ فِي غَزْوَةٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قُلْ يَا عُقْبَةُ» قُلْتُ مَا أَقُولُ؟ قَالَهَا الثَّالِثَةَ قُلْتُ مَا أَقُولُ؟ قَالَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَقَرَأَ السُّورَةَ حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا ثُمَّ قَرَأَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ وَقَرَأْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا ثُمَّ قَرَأَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ وَقَرَأْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَا تُعُوِّذَ بِمِثْلِهِنَّ»

✧ Al-Qaʿnabī narrated to us: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Muḥammad narrated to us from ʿAbdullāh b. Salmān from Muʿādh b. ʿAbdullāh b. Khubayb from his father from ʿUqba b. ʿĀmir al-Juhanī that he said: While I was leading the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on his mount during a military expedition, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Say, O ʿUqba." I said: What shall I say? He said it a third time. I said: What shall I say? He said: "Say: He is Allah, the One," and he recited the surah until he completed it. Then he recited, "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak," and I recited with him until he completed it. Then he recited, "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind," and I recited with him until he completed it. Then he said: "Refuge has never been sought with the like of them."
