حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا رَأَيْتَ اللهَ يُعْطِي الْعَبْدَ مَا يُحِبُّ وَهُوَ مُقِيمٌ عَلَى مَعَاصِيهِ فَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ لَهُ مِنْهُ اسْتِدْرَاجٌ» ثُمَّ نَزَعَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرِحُوا بِمَا أُوتُوا أَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ مُبْلِسُونَ فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ}

✧ From the Messenger of God ﷺ, he said: “When you see God giving a servant what he loves while he persists in his disobedience, that is only a gradual leading of him from Himself.” Then he recited this verse: {So when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We opened for them the doors of everything, until, when they rejoiced in what they had been given, We seized them suddenly, and at once they were in despair. So the last remnant of the people who had done wrong was cut off. And praise be to God, Lord of the worlds.}
