✧ The Lineage of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and His Name: Abu Bakr Abdullah bin Uthman bin Amr bin Kaab bin Saad bin Taym bin Murrah

حَدَّثَنَا بُهْلُولُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ بُهْلُولٍ الْأَنْبَارِيُّ ثنا أَبِي عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى بْنِ أَبِي الْمُسَاوِرِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي أُمُّ هَانِئٍ قَالَتْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِهِ «أَنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَخْرُجَ إِلَى قُرَيْشٍ فَأُخْبِرَهُمْ» فَأَخْبَرَهُمْ فَكَذِّبُوهُ وَصَدَّقَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَسُمِّي يَوْمَئِذٍ الصِّدِّيقُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said when he was taken on the Night Journey, "I want to go out to the Quraysh and inform them." So he informed them, but they rejected him and Abu Bakr confirmed him (believed him), so he was called "As-Siddiq" that day.
