حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ مَنْدَهْ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ثَنَا أَبُو السَّمْحِ ثَنَا أَبُو قَبِيلٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ يَقُولُ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أَخْوَفُ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي اثْنَتَينِ يَتَّبِعُونَ الْآيَاتِ وَالشَّهَوَاتِ وَيَتْرُكُونَ الْقُرْآنَ وَالصَّلَوَاتِ أَنْ يَتَعَلَّمَهُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ يُجَادِلُونَ بِهِ أَهْلَ الْعِلْمِ

✧ I heard ʿUqbah b. ʿAmir say: The Prophet ﷺ said: “The two things I fear most for my community are their pursuit of signs and desires and their abandonment of the Qur'an and prayers; that the hypocrites learn it and argue with it against the people of knowledge.”
