حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَيْدٍ الْحَوْطِيُّ قَالَا ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ثَنَا مُعَانُ بْنُ رِفَاعَةَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ العَلَّافُ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زَحْرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ
لَقِيتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا فَبَدَرْتُهُ فَأَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ أَو بَدَرَنِي فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَقَالَ يَا عُقْبَةُ ألَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِأَفْضَلِ أَخْلَاقِ أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا وَأَهْلِ الْآخِرَةِ تَصِلُ مَنْ قَطَعَكَ وَتُعْطِي مَنْ حَرَمَكَ وَتَعْفُو عَمَّنْ ظَلَمَكَ الَّذِي أَرَادَ أنْ يُبْسَطَ لَهُ فِي رِزْقِهِ وَيُمَدَّ لَهُ فِي عُمُرِهِ فَلْيَتَّقِ اللهَ وَلْيَصِلْ ذَا رَحِمِهِ وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ

✧ One day I met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I hastened to him and took his hand, or he hastened to me and took my hand. Then he said: “O ʿUqbah, shall I not tell you of the best traits of the people of this world and the Hereafter? You maintain ties with those who cut you off, you give to those who deprive you, and you pardon those who wrong you. Whoever desires that his provision be expanded and his lifespan extended, let him fear Allah and maintain ties of kinship.” The wording is that of the hadith of Ibn Abī Maryam.
