حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الدِّمْيَاطِيُّ ثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ التُّجِيبِيِّ أَنَّ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ لَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ قَالَ يَا بَنِيَّ إِنِّي أَنْهَاكُمْ
عَنْ ثَلَاثٍ فَاحْتَفِظُوا بِهَا لَا تَقْبَلُوا الْحَدِيثَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إلَّا مِنْ ثِقَةٍ وَلَا تَدَّيَّنُوا وَإِنْ لَبِسْتُمُ الْعَبَاءَ وَلَا تَكْتُبُوا شِعْرًا تُشْغِلُوا بِهِ قُلُوبَكُمْ عَنِ الْقُرْآنِ

✧ About three things, so hold fast to them: do not accept a hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except from a trustworthy person; do not incur debt even if you have to wear coarse woolen cloaks; and do not write poetry so that it distracts your hearts from the Qur’an.
