حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ يَسْأَلُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ فَقَالَ
عُرْوَةُ مَسَّى الْمُغِيرَةُ بِصَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْكُوفَةِ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ أبو مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فَقَالَ مَا هَذَا يَا مُغِيرَةُ؟ أَمَا وَاللهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ لَقَدْ نَزَلَ جِبْرِيلُ فَصَلَّى فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى النَّاسُ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ يَقُولُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَكَذَا أُمِرْتُ» فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لِعُرْوَةَ اعْلَمْ مَا تَقُولُهُ فَإِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ هُوَ الَّذِي أَقَامَ وَقْتَ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ كَذَلِكَ كَانَ بَشِيرُ بْنُ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

✧ 'Urwah said: Al-Mughirah delayed the 'Asr prayer while he was over Kufah, and Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari entered upon him and said: What is this, O Mughirah? By Allah, you know that Jibril descended and prayed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, and the people prayed five prayers, saying it. Then he said: "This is what I was commanded." 'Umar said to 'Urwah: Know what you are saying, for Jibril is the one who established the time of the prayer. 'Urwah said: This is how Bashir b. Abi Mas'ud narrated from his father.
