حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ
أَتَى رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى جَلَسَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَّا السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ فَقَدْ عَرَفْنَاهُ وَأَمَّا الصَّلَاةُ عَلَيْكَ فَأَخْبِرْنَا بِهَا كَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ؟ فَغَضِبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى وَدِدْنَا أنَّ الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي سَأَلَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ سَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتُمْ عَلَيَّ فَقُولُوا اللهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَآلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and sat down in front of him and said, “O Messenger of Allah, as for greeting you with peace, we know it, but as for invoking blessings upon you, tell us how we should invoke blessings upon you.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry until we wished that the man who asked him had not asked him. Then he said, “When you invoke blessings upon me, say: O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet, and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.”
