حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثَنَا زَائِدَةُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ سَوَاءً فَأعْلَمُهُمْ بِالسُّنَّةِ فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي السُّنَّةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْهِجْرَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ سِنًّا وَلَا يُؤَمَّنَّ رَجُلٌ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا تَقْعُدْ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ فِي بَيْتِهِ إلَّا أَنْ يَأْذَنَ لَكَ» قَالَ زَائِدَةُ فَقُلْتُ لِسُلَيْمَانَ تَكْرِمَتُهُ صَدْرُ فِرَاشِهِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "The one who should lead a people in prayer is the best reciter of the Book of God among them; if they are equal in recitation, then the most knowledgeable of them in the Sunnah; if they are equal in the Sunnah, then the earliest of them in emigration; if they are equal in emigration, then the eldest of them. No man should lead in the domain of another man's authority, and do not sit on his place of honor in his house unless he gives you permission." Za'idah said: I said to Sulayman, "His place of honor is the head of his bed?" He said, "Yes."
