حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَحَقُّ الْقَوْمِ بِأَنْ يَؤُمَّهُمْ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَعْلَمُهُمْ بِالسُّنَّةِ فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي السُّنَّةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْهِجْرَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ سِنًّا وَلَا يُؤَمَّنَّ رَجُلٌ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا تَقْعُدَنَّ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ فِي بَيْتِهِ إلَّا أَنْ يَأْذَنَ لَكَ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said, “The most entitled of a people to lead them in prayer is the one most versed in the Book of Allah. If they are equal in recitation, then the most knowledgeable of the Sunnah. If they are equal in the Sunnah, then the earliest in migration. If they are equal in migration, then the eldest in age. And no man should lead another in his place of authority, nor sit on his seat of honor in his house except with his permission.”
