حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو وَائِلٍ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ الْمُرَادِيُّ قَالَ كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي
عَنْ جَدِّي عَطِيَّةَ وَقَدْ كَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الْغَضَبَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَإنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ خُلِقَ مِنَ النَّارِ وَإنَّمَا تُطْفَأُ النَّارُ بِالْمَاءِ فَإِذَا غَضِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

✧ On the authority of my grandfather ʿAṭiyyah, who was a Companion, he said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Anger is from Satan, and Satan was created from fire, and fire is only extinguished by water. So if one of you becomes angry, let him perform ablution.”
