حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْمِسْمَعِيُّ عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ نَصْرِ بْنِ شُفَيٍّ عَنْ شَيْخٍ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «نَهَى عَنْ جَزِّ أَذْنَابِ الْخَيْلِ وَنَوَاصِيِهَا وأَعْرافِها فَأَمَّا أَذْنَابُهَا فَإِنَّهَا مَذَابُّهَا وَأَمَّا أَعْرَافُهَا فَإِنَّهَا إِدْفَاؤُهَا وَأَمَّا نَوَاصِيهَا فَإِنَّ الْخَيْرَ مَعْقُودٌ فِيهَا»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ forbade clipping the tails, forelocks, and manes of horses. As for their tails, they are their fly whisks; as for their manes, they are for their warmth; and as for their forelocks, good is tied within them.
