حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ الشَّامِيُّ ثَنَا عُمَرُ أَبُو حَفْصٍ ثَنَا عُتْبَةُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَوْمًا لِقُرَيْشٍ «هَلْ فِيكُمْ مَنْ لَيْسَ مِنْكُمْ؟» قَالُوا ابْنُ أَخِينَا عُتْبَةُ بْنُ غَزْوَانَ قَالَ «ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ وَحَلِيفُ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said one day to Quraysh, “Is there among you someone who is not from you?” They said, “Our sister’s son, ʿUtba b. Ghazwān.” He said, “The son of a people’s sister is from them, and the ally of a people is from them.”
