حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا بَشَّارُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْخَفَّافُ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْبُرْجُمِيُّ إِمَامُ مَسْجِدِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ وَاسِعٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ؓ قَالَ

خَرَجَ عُثْمَانُ ؓ مُهَاجِرًا إِلَى أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ وَمَعَهُ رُقَيَّةُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَاحْتَبَسَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ خَبَرُهُمْ وَكَانَ يَخْرُجُ يَتَوَكَّفُ عَنْهُمُ الْخَبَرَ فَجَاءَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَأَخْبَرَتْهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّ عُثْمَانَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ هَاجَرَ إِلَى اللهِ بِأَهْلِهِ بَعْدَ لُوطٍ»

✧ Uthman ؓ went out as an emigrant to the land of Abyssinia, and with him was Ruqayya bt. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. News of them was withheld from the Prophet ﷺ, and he would go out looking for news of them. A woman came and told him. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Uthman is the first to emigrate to Allah with his family after Lot.'
