حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثَنَا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسَ ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْكَلْبِ؟ فَقَالَ «إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ وَسَمَّيْتَ فَأَخَذَ فَقَتَلَ فَكُلْ فَإِنْ أَكَلَ مِنْهُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ فَإِنَّمَا أمْسَكَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ»

✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about hunting with a dog. He said, "If you send your dog and name it, and it catches and kills prey, then eat from it. But if it eats from the prey, do not eat from it, for it has held it for itself."
