حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ ثَنَا عَامِرٌ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ عَدِيَّ بْنَ حَاتِمٍ يَقُولُ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْمِعْرَاضِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا أَصَبْتَ بِحَدِّهِ فَكُلْ وَمَا أَصَبْتَ بِعَرْضِهِ فَهُوَ وَقِيذٌ» وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْكَلْبِ؟ فَقَالَ «مَا أمْسَكَ عَلَيْكَ وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ فَكُلْهُ فَإِنَّ أَخْذَهُ ذَكَاتُهُ وَإِنْ وَجَدْتَ مَعَ كَلْبِكَ كَلْبًا آخَرَ فَحَسِبْتَ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ أَخَذَهُ مَعَهُ وَقَدْ قَتَلَهُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْهُ فَإِنَّمَا ذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللهِ عَلَى كَلْبِكَ وَلَمْ تَذْكُرْ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ»

✧ I heard ʿAdi b. Hatim say: I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the game of the miʿrad. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'What you strike with its edge, then eat; and what you strike with its broad side, it is a waqidh.' And I asked him about the game of the dog. He said: 'What it holds back for you and does not eat from it, then eat it, for its seizure is its slaughter. And if you find with your dog another dog, and you think that it may have seized it together with it and killed it, then do not eat it, for you mentioned the name of Allah over your dog, but you did not mention it over the other.'
