حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُرْوَةَ يَقُولُ كُنَّا فِي سَفَرٍ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْأَرْقَمِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَكَانَ هُوَ يَتَقَدَّمُنَا فَأَذِنَ لَنَا فَخَرَجَ إِلَى الْغَائِطِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ لَوْ صَلَّيْتَ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتَ فَقَالَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَكَانَ بِأَحَدِكُمُ الْغَائِطُ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِهِ ثُمَّ لِيُصَلِّ بَعْدُ وَلَا يَأْتِي الصَّلَاةَ وَهُوَ يُدَافِعُ»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “When the prayer is due and one of you has the need to defecate, let him begin with that, then pray afterwards, and let him not come to prayer while he is holding it back.”
