حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ يَحْيَى التُّجِيبِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ وَأَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ الْجُمَحِيُّ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ حَدَّثَهُ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ خَاصَمَ الزُّبَيْرَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي شِرَاجِ الْحَرَّةِ الَّتِي يَسْقُونَ بِهَا النَّخْلَ فَقَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ سَرَحَ الْمَاءُ فَأَبَى عَلَيْهِ الزُّبَيْرُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اسْقِ يَا زُبَيْرُ ثُمَّ أَرْسِلْ إِلَى جَارِكَ» فَغَضِبَ الْأَنْصَاريُّ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنْ كَانَ ابْنَ عَمَّتِكَ فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اسْقِ يَا زُبَيْرُ ثُمَّ احْبِسِ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَى الْجِذْرِ» قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ فَوَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَحْسَبُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ نَزَلَتْ فِي ذَلِكَ {فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّى يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ} الْآيَةَ

✧ A man from the Ansar disputed with al-Zubayr before the Messenger of God ﷺ about the channels of the Harrah that they used to water the palm trees. The Ansari said, 'Let the water flow,' but al-Zubayr refused. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, 'Water, O Zubayr, then send [the water] to your neighbor.' The Ansari became angry and said, 'O Messenger of God, is it because he is your aunt's son?' The face of the Messenger of God ﷺ changed color, then he said, 'Water, O Zubayr, then hold back the water until it returns to the root.' Al-Zubayr said, 'By God, I think this verse was revealed concerning that: "But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge in what arises between them."'
