حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَنَفِيِّ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سِكِّينٍ الضُّبَعِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الزِّبْرِقَانِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُصْعَبُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ
قال مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِنَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ وَقَدْ عَرَضَ لَهُمْ شَىءٌ أَضْحَكَهُمْ فَقَالَ «أَتَضْحَكُونَ وَذِكْرُ الْجَنَّةِ وَالنَّارِ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ» فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْأَلِيمُ}

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a group of his companions when something had occurred that made them laugh, and he said: “Do you laugh while the mention of Paradise and Hell is before you?” Then this verse was revealed: “Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful, and that My punishment is the painful punishment.”
