حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قَالَ ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الضَّبِّيُّ قَالَ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ الْأَحْنَفِ الثَّقَفِيِّ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ
جَاءَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مَعَ جَوَارِي لَهَا وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ بَصَرُهَا فَقَالَتْ أَيْنَ الْحَجَّاجُ؟ قُلْنَا لَيْسَ هَهُنَا قَالَتْ فَمُرُوهُ فَلْيَأْمُرْ لَنَا بِهَذِهِ الْعِظَامِ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنِ الْمُثْلَةِ قُلْنَا إِذَا جَاءَ قُلْنَا لَهُ قَالَتْ إِذَا جَاءَ فَأَخْبِرُوهُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ فِي ثَقِيفَ كَذَّابًا وَمُبِيرًا»
Translation

✧ Asmaʾ bt. Abi Bakr came with some of her slave girls, and her sight had gone. She said, 'Where is al-Hajjaj?' We said, 'He is not here.' She said, 'Then tell him to order for us these bones, for I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ forbidding mutilation.' We said, 'When he comes, we will tell him.' She said, 'When he comes, tell him that I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say, "In Thaqif there is a liar and a destroyer."'
