حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ قَالَ ثنا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ قَالَ ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ قَالَ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَبُو شُجَاعٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي السَّمْحِ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ هِلَالٍ الصَّدَفِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْ أَنَّ رَصَاصَةً مِثْلَ هَذِهِ» وَأَشَارَ إِلَى مِثْلِ الْجُمَانَةِ الْجَمْجَةِ «أُرْسِلَتْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَهِيَ مَسِيرَةُ خَمْسِ مئةِ سَنَةٍ لَبَلَغَتِ الْأَرْضَ قَبْلَ اللَّيْلِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهَا أُرْسِلَتْ مِنْ رَأْسِ السِّلْسِلَةِ لَسَارَتْ أَرْبَعِينَ خَرِيفًا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَبْلُغَ الْأَرْضَ أَصْلُهَا أَوْ قَعْرُهَا»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “If a lead ball like this”—and he pointed to something like a pearl, a skull—“were sent from heaven to earth, a journey of five hundred years, it would reach the earth before nightfall. And if it were sent from the top of the chain, it would travel for forty autumns, night and day, before reaching the earth’s base or its bottom.”
