حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ قَالَ ثنا أحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ قَالَ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ بَكْرَ بْنَ سَوَادَةَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ يَزِيدَ بْنَ رَبَاحٍ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا فُتِحَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ خَزَائِنُ فَارِسَ وَالرُّومِ أَيُّ قَوْمٍ أَنْتُمْ؟» فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ نَكُونُ كَمَا أَمَرَ اللهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَوْ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ تَتَنَافَسُونَ ثُمَّ تَحَاسَدُونَ ثُمَّ تَدَابَرُونَ وَتَبَاغَضُونَ أَوْ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ تَنْطَلِقُونَ إِلَى مَسَاكِنِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ فَتَجْعَلُونَ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَى رِقَابِ بَعْضٍ»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “When the treasuries of Persia and Byzantium are opened for you, what kind of people will you be?” ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAwf said: “We will be as God has commanded.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Or other than that: you will vie with one another, then envy one another, then turn your backs on one another and hate one another, or something like that; then you will go to the dwellings of the emigrants and put some of them in charge of others.”
