حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَلُولٍ قَالَ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ

لَمَّا أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَالْخَنْدَقِ فَخَنْدَقَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا صَفَاةً لَا نَسْتَطِيعُ حَفْرَهَا فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَقُمْنَا مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا أَتَى أَخَذَ الْمِعْوَلَ فَضَرَبَ بِهِ ضَرْبَةً وَكَبَّرَ فَسَمِعْتُ هَدَّةً لَمْ أَسْمَعْ مِثْلَهَا قَطُّ فَقَالَ «فُتِحَتْ فَارِسُ» ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ أُخْرَى وَكَبَّرَ فَسَمِعْتُ هَدَّةً لَمْ أَسْمَعْ مِثْلَهَا قَطُّ فَقَالَ «فُتِحَتِ الرُّومُ» ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ أُخْرَى وَكَبَّرَ فَسَمِعْتُ هَدَّةً لَمْ أَسْمَعْ مِثْلَهَا قَطُّ فَقَالَ «جَاءَ اللهُ بِحِمْيَرَ أَعْوَانًا وَأَنْصَارًا»

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ ordered the trench to be dug, and it was dug around Madinah, they said, 'O Messenger of God, we have found a rock that we cannot dig.' The Prophet ﷺ stood up and we stood with him. When he came, he took the pickaxe and struck with it once, saying 'Allahu Akbar.' I heard a crash the like of which I had never heard. He said, 'Persia has been opened.' Then he struck again and said 'Allahu Akbar.' I heard a crash the like of which I had never heard. He said, 'Rome has been opened.' Then he struck again and said 'Allahu Akbar.' I heard a crash the like of which I had never heard. He said, 'God has brought Himyar as helpers and supporters.'
