حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شُعَيْبٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَابْلُتِّيُّ ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ نَهِيكٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ
سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَوْمَ أُدْخِلَ رَجُلٌ فِي قَبْرِهِ فَأَتَاهُ مَلَكَانَ فَقَالَا لَهُ إِنَّا ضَارِبُوكَ ضَرْبَةً فَقَالَ لَهُمَا عَلَامَ تَضْرِبَانِي؟ فَضَرَبَاهُ ضَرْبَةً امْتَلَأَ قَبْرُهُ مِنْهَا نَارًا فَتَرَكَاهُ حَتَّى أَفَاقَ وَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الرُّعْبُ فَقَالَ لَهُمَا عَلَامَ ضَرَبْتُمَانِي؟ فَقَالَا إِنَّكَ صَلَّيْتَ صَلَاةً وَأَنْتَ عَلَى غَيْرِ طُهُورٍ وَمَرَرْتَ بِرَجُلٍ مَظْلُومٍ وَلَمْ تَنْصُرْهُ

✧ I heard the Prophet ﷺ say on the day a man was placed in his grave: two angels came to him and said, “We will strike you with a blow.” He said to them, “For what will you strike me?” They struck him with a blow that filled his grave with fire. Then they left him until he recovered and the terror left him. He said to them, “For what did you strike me?” They said, “You prayed a prayer while not in a state of purity, and you passed by a wronged man and did not help him.”
