حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا شَرِيكٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ كُهَيْلٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ
كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَالشَّمْسُ عَلَى قُعَيْقِعَانَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ فَقَالَ «مَا أَعْمَارُكُمْ فِي أَعْمَارِ مَنْ مَضَى إِلَّا كَمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ هَذَا النَّهَارِ فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهُ»

✧ We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ while the sun was on Quʿayqiʿan after the afternoon prayer. He said, 'Your lifespans compared to the lifespans of those who have passed are only like what remains of this day compared to what has passed of it.'
