حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ صَالِحٍ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِأَصْحَابِهِ «أَخْبِرُونِي عَنْ شَجَرَةٍ مَثَلُهَا مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ» فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَذْكُرُونَ شَجَرًا مِنْ شَجَرِ الْوَادِي فَأُلْقِيَ فِي نَفْسِي أَنَّهَا النَّخْلَةُ فَجَعَلْتُ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَقُولَ فَأَرَى أَسْنَانًا مِنَ الْقَوْمِ فَجَعَلْتُ أَهَابُ ذَاكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, "Tell me about a tree whose example is like that of a believer." So, people started mentioning a tree from the trees of the valleys, and I thought to myself that it is the date palm tree. I wanted to say it, but then saw the people's teeth, so I hesitated, fearing that they may detest it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is the date palm tree."
