حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي حَكِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي حُرَّةَ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَسْأَلُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ نَذَرَ
أَنْ لَا يَأْتِيَ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمٌ سَمَّاهُ إِلَّا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فِيهِ فَوَافَقَ ذَلِكَ يَوْمَ أَضْحًى أَوْ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ «لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَصُومُ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى وَلَا يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ وَلَا يَأْمُرُ بِصِيَامِهِمَا»

✧ That no day he had named would come upon him except that he fasted on it, and that coincided with the day of sacrifice or the day of breaking the fast. Ibn ʿUmar said: “You have a good example in the Messenger of God.” “The Messenger of God ﷺ did not fast on the day of sacrifice or the day of breaking the fast, nor did he command fasting them.”
