حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ هَارُونَ الْقَزَّازُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنَّا نَجْلِسُ إِلَى الْأُمَرَاءِ فَيَتَكَلَّمُونَ بِالْكَلَامِ وَنَحْنُ نَعْلَمُ
أَنَّ الْحَقَّ غَيْرُهُ فَنُصَدِّقُهُمْ وَيَقْضُونَ بَالْجَوْرِ فَنُقَوِّيهِمْ عَلَيْهِ وَنُحَسِّنُهُ لَهُمْ فَكَيْفَ تَرَى فِي ذَلِكِ؟ فَقَالَ «يَا ابْنَ أَخِي كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَعُدُّ هَذَا النِّفَاقَ»

✧ “...that the truth is someone else, so we believe them, and they judge unjustly, so we strengthen them in it and make it seem good to them. So what do you think about that?” He said: “O son of my brother, we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we used to consider this hypocrisy.”
