حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصَفَّى ثنا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنِ الْجَرَّاحِ بْنِ الْمِنْهَالِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ الْخُرَسَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي ثَابِتِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ شَمَّاسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْتَفَتَ إِلَيَّ وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيَّ وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي فَلَمَّا فَرَغْتُ قَالَ «أَلَمْ تُصَلِّ مَعَنَا؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَمَا هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةُ؟» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ خَرَجْتُ مِنْ مَنْزِلِي وَلَمْ أَكُنْ صَلَّيْتُهُمَا قَالَ فَلَمْ يَعِبْ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَيَّ

✧ I came to the mosque while the Prophet ﷺ was in prayer. When the Prophet ﷺ said the salutation, he turned to me while I was praying. The Prophet ﷺ kept looking at me as I prayed. When I finished, he said, “Did you not pray with us?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “Then what is this prayer?” I replied, “O Messenger of Allah, the two rak‘ahs of Fajr. I left my house and had not prayed them.” He said, “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not find fault with me for that.”
