حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ثنا زُهَيْرٌ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ
عَنْ رُؤْيَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ قَالَ «رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ اجْتَمَعُوا فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَمَا رَأَيْتُ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ»

✧ Regarding the dream of the Messenger of God ﷺ about Abu Bakr and ʿUmar, he said: 'I saw people gathered, and Abu Bakr stood and drew a bucket or two buckets, and in his drawing there was weakness, and God forgives him. Then ʿUmar b. al-Khattab stood and it turned into a large bucket. I have never seen a champion among people do what he did, until the people settled by the watering place.'
