حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى عَلَى عُمَرَ قَمِيصًا أَبْيَضَ فَقَالَ «أَجَدِيدٌ قَمِيصُكَ هَذَا أَمْ غَسِيلٌ؟» قَالَ بَلْ غَسِيلٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا وَيَرْزُقُكُ اللهُ قُرَّةَ عَيْنٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ» قَالَ وَإِيَّاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ
Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ saw a white shirt on ʿUmar and said: “Is this shirt of yours new or washed?” He said: “Rather, washed.” The Prophet ﷺ said: “Wear new, live praiseworthy, die as a martyr, and may God grant you the delight of your eye in this world and the Hereafter.” He said: “And you, O Messenger of God.”
