حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ السَّيْلَحِينِيُّ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ حَنَشٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَخْرُجُ فَيُهَرِيقُ الْمَاءَ فَيَتَمَسَّحُ بِالتُّرَابِ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْمَاءَ مِنْكَ قَرِيبٌ فَيَقُولُ «لَعَلِّي لَا أَبْلُغُهُ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would go out to urinate and then wipe himself with dust. I would say, 'O Messenger of Allah, water is near you.' He would say, 'Perhaps I will not reach it.'
