حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ قَالَا ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَعِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ رَجُلٌ يُنَاجِيهِ وَكَانَ كَالْمُعْرِضِ عَنْ أَبِي فَخَرَجْنَا مِنْ عِنْدَهِ فَقَالَ لِي أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ابْنِ عَمِّكَ كَانَ كَالْمُعْرِضِ عَنِّي فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا أَبَهْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ رَجُلٌ يُنَاجِيهِ فَقَالَ وَكَانَ عِنْدَهُ أَحَدٌ؟ فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَرَجَعْنَا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَقَالَ لِي كَذَا وَكَذَا وَكَانَ عِنْدَكَ أَحَدٌ؟ فَقَالَ «نَعَمْ ورَأَيْتُهُ يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «ذَاكَ جِبْرِيلُ هُوَ الَّذِي شَغَلَنِي عَنْكَ»

✧ I was with my father in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, and there was a man with the Prophet ﷺ speaking to him in confidence. He seemed to be turning away from my father. We left him, and my father said to me, "Did you not see your cousin? He was as if turning away from me." I said, "O father, there was a man with him speaking to him in confidence." He said, "Was there someone with him?" I said, "Yes." We returned and my father said, "O Messenger of God, I said to ʿAbd Allah such-and-such, and he said to me such-and-such. Was there someone with you?" He said, "Yes. And did you see him, O ʿAbd Allah?" I said, "Yes." He said, "That was Jibrīl. It was he who occupied me from you."
